    Five Learning Goals

    Communication. Reading, Writing, Computers and Multimedia, Speaking, Listening, Foreign Languages, Creative Expression.

    Empirical Reasoning.   Logic, Research, Developing strategies to test ideas.

    Personal Qualities. Respect, Responsibility, Leadership, Organization, Physical Fitness, Perseverance, Self-Awareness.

    Quantitative Reasoning.   Algebra, Statistics, Geometry, Basic Operations, Tables and Graphs, Estimating and Number Sense.

    Social Reasoning.  Citizenship, Understanding Diverse Perspectives, Cooperation, Conflict Resolution, Past Experience/History.

        Excelerate! – prepares students to enter private school, participate in concurrent enrollment, or re-enter public school through a rigorous program of discipline, academic review, and social training. $25 registration; $50/month program fee. Meets M-W and F.

        Showoffs – competitive performing arts program which competes in dance, vocal music, and acting. $25 registration. Meets 1-2 times weekly.

        WOW (War of Words) – competitive debate program. $10 registration. Meets weekly.

        Basketball – basketball league and skill development for children, youth, and adults. Call 669-6662 or stop by Center for fee schedule.

        Athletes-R-Us – speed, power and agility training in preparation for all sports. Call 669-6662 or stop by Center for fee schedule.

        Golf Lessons – group and individual lessons. Call 669-6662 or stop by the Center for fee schedule.

        Max Games – Olympics-styled sporting competitions at the Center during Summer 2010. Details available at the Center in February, 2010.

        Senior Trips – monthly day trips to museums, area nature sites, casinos, and other cultural sites of interest. Costs vary according to trip.

        Up All Night – quarterly overnight educational, cultural and recreational activities. $20 program fee.

        Drop In After School – school age youth and children drop in after school each day for recreation, homework help, and afternoon snacks from 3-5:30PM. Free.

        Drop’n’Shop/Parents’ Night Out – monthly recreational activities that facilitate parents getting errands and shopping done as well providing some respite from the strains of parenting. $10 program fee.

        Knights Exemplar/Simukai – using traditions from European and African past, this is a rites of passage program that includes mentoring and leadership development. (Simukai is an African word that means “get up,” as in getting out of one’s chair and living out one’s faith.) $25 registration. Meets weekly.

        Maxwell Forum – monthly lecture/information series for the general public but primarily aimed at adults. Free and open to the public.

        CKQ – class for crocheting, knitting and quilting. $10 for materials. Meets weekly.

        Dining with Dignitaries – annual formal dinner between noted individuals of the community and high school students. $25 registration. Meets weekly.

        Teens In Office – preparing high school age youth to be responsible citizens through participation in government. $10 registration. Meets weekly (Spring 2010)

        AA/NA – Alcoholics Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous meetings.
